The event offers a wide variety of activities, talks, readings and meetings with authors in which they talk about and reflect on the subjects involved in this literary genre.

The event's first edition was held in 2006 and it has grown every year since then.

Corruption, crime journalism, detection methods, art forgery, town planning and its relation to crime, Barcelona as the scene of police stories, cybercrime and gender violence are some of the subjects discussed at BCNegra's roundtables and conversations with authors.

Most of the activities are held in the Chapel, although they are also held at other locations, such as the National Art Museum of Catalonia, the Association of Architects, the Association of Journalists, the Blanquerna Faculty of Communication and various city libraries. Over 50 authors and specialists in detective stories from all over Europe take part in the sessions.
