The event's name refers to the home dels nassos [nose man], a mythical Catalan character who has as many noses as there are days in the year.

It is organised by Barcelona City Council over a 10 km route through the city's streets, starting and finishing at the Olympic Port. It is held in the evening, a few hours before the new year, like other Sant Silvestre events around the world.

Federated and non-federated athletes over the age of 16 can take part in the race.

11,500 athletes participated in the 2013 edition
