One of the rally's main characteristics is that all vehicle passengers wear period costumes from the year when the vehicle was built.

Over the years, the event has become established and it is now considered to be one of the most traditional vintage car rallies in Europe. According to the organisers, it is the second most important vintage car event in Europe, second only to the classic London to Brighton run. The participants come from all over Spain and also from neighbouring countries.

The cars cover the 40 kilometres separating the two municipalities, and aesthetic and period aspects are more highly valued than the vehicle's speed during the run.

The rally starts from Plaça Sant Jaume in Barcelona. Hundreds of people turn out to admire the vehicles, which constitute a living history of the automobile . There are normally between 80 and 100 vehicles taking part.
