The Gamper Trophy is a chance for Barça fans to watch the club's new signings in action and to get ready for the new season.

The tournament first took place in 1966 and it had a four-team format until 1996, which meant that two games were played on the first day and the winners of each game met in the final on the second day.

Since 1997, the event has been a one-match trophy, so as not to overload the players with matches during preseason training and in order to optimise the economic investment needed to organise the competition.

Season after season, the Joan Gamper Trophy remains a must for all Barcelona football fans, who usually fill the stadium to see the club's new players.
